New Covenant Internship exists to spiritually, professionally, and relationally equip leaders for the local church.

We want to give these interns the opportunity to experience real, hands on ministry environments, be exposed to the development and implementation of ministry in four areas, including Pastoral, Creative/Tech, NextGEN, Worship, and Children’s ministry, and lastly, to be educated in areas of ministry from theology to practicals, like budgeting and team management.

This is not a program designed to find people willing to do basic ministry tasks, but one that is designed to develop interns where they are educated and experienced, ready to step into ministry, be that pastoral, creative, technical, or otherwise, and in the secular marketplace, having developed their leadership.  As God gives us men and women to equip, we want to use our gifts, abilities, and resources to train, test, evaluate, and set them into ministry and the marketplace. This program is not an assurance of job placement at New Covenant, or anywhere else, but it is a development tool to help prep interns for future ministry and the marketplace.

Each internship opportunity (Pastoral, Creative/Tech, NextGEN, Worship, and Children) includes education and training in four major areas, including theological, ministry, development, and leadership through classes that are taught and/or led by our pastoral team, video teachings from Gateway, Church of the Highlands, and Hillsong, and from lay leaders in our congregation. Along with the educational development, each intern is required to maintain a weekly minimum step count, water consumption, and a weekly workout schedule, which is designed to develop them in terms of health as well.

Luke 2:52 says, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.” We believe that Jesus was a young man who clearly had qualities that were obvious to the people around him. In the same manner, we have been able to identify young men and women in our congregation who have exhibited qualities that have caused them to stand out. We have also seen these quality individuals accept internships in other churches. With this internship, we have the ability to offer a quality program that provides exposure, experience, and education, which not only helps develop these individuals in their gifting, abilities, and callings, but helps us accomplish the mission God has set before us to reach the East Texas area, specifically Longview and Kilgore.
